Garrettsville Village Council
Term: Four years
Salary: $1,800 per year

Name: Dave Kirk
Occupation: Teacher and coach at Chagrin Falls High School
Previous elected office: Councilman at Large 2001-present and member of the safety committee since 2002.
Question: What are the most important issues in the village?
Answer: "Improving the tax base by the recruitment of business, broadening of the tax base by encouraging housing development and subsequent family income tax revenue, increasing the tax rate through a levy and continuing to cut expenditures have become the rhetorical manna fed to voters by candidates and incumbents. I believe Garrettsville is ignoring one of our greatest attributes: We sit at the geographical heart of the northeast quadrant of Portage County. By promoting a program of tax base sharing amongst the few political entities of this area, we could effectively reduce duplicated governmental services, promote inter-jurisdictional cooperation, encourage true regional development and spur economic development. We must think outside the Village."

Name: Jeffrey S. Kaiser
Occupation: Research and development mechanical lab technician
Previous elected office: Currently serving on village council
Question: What are the most important issues in the village?
Answer: "Passage of the 0.25 percent income tax levy is essential for the village, especially after the news of the Amweld Co. closing. Some of those funds would be used for street maintenance, an area in which many projects have been delayed."

Name: Rick Patrick
Occupation: Owner of Rick Patrick's Auto Service & Sales, owner of Village Motors Towing and president of the Garrettsville Area Chamber of Commerce
Previous elected office: None
Question: What are the most important issues in the village?
Answer: "I would like to establish a subcommittee of Council members and Chamber of Commerce members for the purpose of marketing our village to encourage business and residents to move into our village to increase our tax base."
