From staff reports
An SUV crashed off the Middlebury Road bridge late Friday night and plunged into the Cuyahoga River, closing the road for several hours Saturday.
Kent police officers discovered the submerged vehicle shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday.
The vehicle was reportedly unoccupied at the time and no injuries were reported.
Police closed Middlebury Road between Akron Boulevard on the north side of the bridge and S.R. 261 on the south side of the bridge until the accident was cleared.
A detour was temporarily installed until the roadway reopened around 4 p.m. Saturday.
Additional details regarding the accident were unavailable at press time and the cause remains under investigation.
