The Southeast Board of Education unanimously voted to not renew the contract of the Primary School principal despite support from the public Monday night.
It was a tearful night and after two hours of a closed door session, the board announced their decision to a large group of parents, students and teachers, who all wished Miller well.
"As a board, we take all personnel issues very seriously," board president David Kemble said. "We provided her (Miller) with written notice of our decision."
Superintendent Tom Harrison said a statement would be available today, further detailing the board's decision.
He also said they would be searching for another principal almost immediately.
At the March 19 board meeting, many concerned parents also attended in support of Miller and were disgruntled about the limited public comment period of 20 minutes, which was extended to an hour Monday.
Christine's husband Dan Miller, also spoke to the board Monday and said they both were disappointed with the decision.

The next board meeting has been moved up to May 19 because of Memorial Day Holiday. Please post here if there's any organized efforts for attending the board meetings. Also, has there been any formal committees or meetings established for hiring the new principal?

I believe there is a board meeting tonight at 6:30 in the high school. Does anyone know if there's any organized efforts to attend these meetings or other actions being organized for those of us that are interested?

robbie white and his partners need to go, I will personally give you the information I find from both the super. and the business agent. I have been hearing that the bus. agent may have embezzled something in the Past? I would not want to be in harrison's shoes right now!

Oh, I forgot to put a question out there with my post (re Nov 07 minutes)...What in the world does a Guidance Counseler need a secretary for - much less a full time one? Isn't that what the secretary's at the front desk are for? I never enjoy seeing anyone lose their jobs, but why does our district continue to spend, spend, spend - knowing full well that the emergency levy we passed is just a band aid (according to members of the "Audit Commitee")Although, they went on a hiring spree as soon as it was passed and continue to spend. I wonder if our board has heard of a conservative budget? You know, they will be asking for more money soon! Another thing, check out the portage county public court records and you will get an idea of how much our district spends on attorneys! I was told that school districts have access to attorneys free of charge, but southeast chooses to spend our money!

To so what: I also read the minutes from the board meeting from november 2007. It is obvious to me that robbie white made a motion to hire his friends wife full time - knowing full well that as of january 2008 she would not be elligible for a contract as long as her spouse serves on the school board. No this is not illegal, just unethical. It would have been illegal if she was given a contract after he took office in January. Our board members know how to push the envelope of ethics without breaking laws. Just a requirement of politicians - although, they all end up getting caught in the end. From what I know about the business manager, he worked at norton schools at the same time as Linda Fuline - he told me this personally. Supposedly they did not have a friendly relationship. I guess we all need to do a little digging into the past on these people who are now running our district.

I understand this business agent/manager has previous ties with the super. Something smells here.

If you are still reading these, check into to the business agent of S/E Local. We're pretty SURE you will hear more about this UP-STANDING individual! He's a bounce around kind of person, job to job w/not alot of good on his so called resume.

Read the Nov 07 minutes and wendy McElfresh change position in the school, resigned and re-hired. Is this what you are talking about, a conflict of interest ?

LOL, I read the Nov 07 minutes. Too bad they couldn't hide that because of possible legal matters!!
