STREETSBORO " The Streetsboro Area Chamber of Commerce held its first Industrial Roundtable this week.
Twenty-five people from the area's industrial segment gathered for a presentation and meeting on what the chamber hopes will be the start of a new quarterly program.
Deluxe Corporation on Phillips Parkway hosted the event and sponsored a breakfast for the group.
The event started off with participant introductions followed by board director and event chairman Chet Simmons, controller for Singer Steel, with explanation of the chamber event purpose.
Simmons outlined that the chamber was "giving something back" to our industrial members by creating a future forum to share ideas, frustrations and common solutions these companies all face.
Future meetings may include discussions on topics such as employee benefits, local vendor sourcing, logistics, IT, time management and growth strategies.
The main agenda item was an hour-long presentation by international coach and speaker Jeff Tobe who educated and entertained the group with his famous "Coloring Outside the Lines Seminar."
Through stories, visuals and interaction Tobe helped everyone understand how we must increase our value as we decrease our costs.
Tobe gave away his books and challenged the group to get out of their comfort zone and color outside the lines. He spoke about the short cycle of change now occurring every 11 months or less and how we must be innovative and creative, especially in manufacturing.
Chamber president Bruce Felber thanked everyone for supporting the chamber and said this was the chamber's way of giving something back and encouraged companies to stay involved the different chamber opportunities. He thanked Deluxe for hosting this first event and looks forward to many more such meetings.
"It waspleasure to host the initial SACC Industrial Roundtable event while Jeff Tobe's presentation was both informative and entertaining," said Kevin Buck, Deluxe plant manager. "I seethis as an excellent developmental opportunityfor the industrial segment in Streetsboro if the chamber is able to continue to host such qualityevents as this one turned out to be."
