* Rep. Stephen Dyer, a Democrat who represents a portion of Portage County: "I'm glad the Attorney General did the honorable thing today. I have consistently said the best outcome to this situation was Mr. Dann's resignation. I believe today's development was a direct result of the House Democrats' strong action to file Articles of Impeachment -- fulfilling a promise we made to end corruption, regardless of its source."

* House Speaker Jon Husted, a Republican from Kettering, said Dann's decision was "long overdue."

In a statement, he said, "We can now allow the Inspector General's independent investigation -- and others -- to take their course so integrity and public trust can be restored to the office of the Ohio Attorney General."

* Senate President Bill Harris, a Republican from Ashland, said Dann "did the right thing."

In a statement, he said, "I believe it is essential that the independent investigation currently being conducted by Ohio's Inspector General continue in order to begin the process of restoring the public's trust."
