Aeros hold off Curve rally

AKRON " The Akron Aeros withstood a late rally from the Altoona Curve on Wednesday to collect a 3-2 victory at Canal Park.
The Curve plated single runs in both the seventh and eighth innings, but the Aeros' lead held up.
David Huff picked up the win for Akron, which improved his record to 2-1 on the season. Randy Newsom earned his seventh save of the year after retiring the Curve 1-2-3 in the top of the ninth inning.
Akron grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third when the half inning started with a single by Brandon Chaves.
Jose Constanza put down a sacrifice bunt to move Chaves to second, then Joshua Rodriguez singled to move Chaves to third.
Chaves was brought home to score on a Wes Hodges single, which also plated Rodriguez for the Aeros' 2-0 lead.
Akron scored its third run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning. Constanza, who had reached on a walk then stole second, scored on an infield error.
