Only "paper check" if you owed the IRS

Why didn't the IRS ever tell us that those of us who owed the IRS will have to wait for a "paper check" even if we gave them our banking information for direct deposit (in addition to sending in our payment)? I just happened to call and ask H&R Block and they gave me the story. I cannot believe the correct info has never been reported on TV or in newspapers. How frustrating to those of us who thought we'd get ours by May 9th.

Well, she would have to sign the check over to you. So right there she is giving you permission. If you feel iffy, don't do it plain and simple. Follow your gut feeling. Trust me!!!

And I just heard today from someone that the IRS is running out of money??? Whats up with that. Anyone else heard this??

Hava a "friend" who owes me money, wants me to deposit her check into my account. If I do this and she turns around and says she didn't authorize it, etc. what is my liability? I don't know that she'd do this, but just want to "cover my assets" . Don't know why she doesn't have a bank account of her own?

Yes, I owed the IRS and sent them a check in FULL for what I owed (and I'm retired)....so why can't they give me $600 by Direct Deposit?? They have my check right in their hands.

OK, lets think about this people: You owe the government money. You expect the government to give you a $600 (plus) check back.

How about you now owe $600 less?

Dear G25O, I realize that TV news and newspapers cannot give all the many details regarding the rebate...However, I think they could've just given that ONE important one, that if you OWE the IRS, you cannot use direct deposit! Even H&R Block told me I could, and they were wrong. I kept listening attentively for any info and it never came. And I'm sure there are millions of people iun my same boat!

Those who had rapid refund checks will have there stimulus checks mailed.

Those that had there refunds deposited into more then one account will also.

If you changed banks and the IRS does not have your information you will receive a paper check also .

I hope this helps you.

This thread fails. The answers are all posted on the IRS website. It is not the medias job to report every single exception to the rule - do your research before hand if you wanted to know so bad.

I must tell you, "Enough" commentor, that the IRS website does "not" say that you will get a paper check if you OWE...it just gives the schedule for direct deposit without any other stipulation...go look. In fact, even their SS# link where you plug in your numbers to check does not even "recognize" you if you OWED. ckstow.....
